1926 Model 18 Norton

-SG- Sand racing in the years before 1939, on New Zealand's vast smooth beaches was - and may be still is, although doubtless the health and safety nitwits will have interfered long since -  a popular branch of motor-cycle sport.  This shot of an unknown rider was taken in the late twenties, judging by the machine which appears to be an early 1926 Model 18 with the optional large TT fuel tank. Why early 1926?  It has a non-detachable rear brake drum and late 1926 Model 18s did not have this feature.  Anyone down-under  know who, where and when, send us a message!
