Dad's 1928 Model 18 Norton

-SG- Had the pleasure of meeting Pete (an NOC stalwart) at the Popham event on Sunday, who sent me this snap of his father in about 1932, seated on his 1928 Model 18. Looks as if the original double barrelled silencer has been dispensed with although the fish tail is retained on the end of the exhaust pipe. While there are many press photos in existence of Nortons in competition, it is worth reminding ourselves that thousands of Nortons - like this one - were just everyday transport for the majority of their owners and being able to own and use a bike in the depressed times of the early thirties must have been a real bonus.
