-SG- Although it seems as if the Norton management rather wanted it to be assumed that the CS1 had its first - and successful - outing at the 1927 TT, Stanley recounted in his letter to Paul Adams in 1986 (see posting of 12/6/2010) that a preliminary - and unsuccessful - visit to a race circuit in Germany had taken place in May '27. It transpires this was at the Solitude Circuit near Stuttgart and it was not reported in the UK motorcycle press until a month later. Thanks to Roz at the VMCC library for a scan of the 23 June '27 report now attached - and to Roger for steering us in the right direction!
